  • by Jay

The American Bass Anglers American Fishing Tour Division 26 had its second tournament of the season yesterday on Clarks Hill.  18 anglers fished the event and Evan Buller of Lincolnton, GA won the tournament with 14.10 pounds (worth $478.00), including a big fish of 4.14 pounds.  Second and third place were settled by the big fish tiebreaker as both Curtis Temple of Saluda and Jack Corley of Appling, GA had 14.3 pounds.  Curtis took second worth $268.00 because of his 5.30 pound big fish, while Jack’s 3.12 pound big fish gave him a third place finish worth $86.00.  The overall tournament big fish worth $85.00 was caught by Mike Guilbeau and weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces.

Tournament director William Hooker reported that even though water temperatures were only around 49 or 50 degrees, with slight warming during the day, most of the guys seemed to fish shallow in less than 6-8 feet of water.  Crankbaits such as #5 or #7 Shad Raps were the most popular lures.
