Lake Keowee water levels are at 98.5% of full pool and water temperatures are generally in the mid-70s.  Clarity is normal.

Spring bass fishing on Lake Keowee is pretty much over, and basically all of the fish are now in a post-spawn pattern.  Guide Brad Fowler reports that fish are starting to move out towards the humps and points and get into a summer mode, but with water temperatures still relatively cool they are in-between patterns.  It’s a transition time.

Early in the morning there is a pretty good topwater bite around shallow flats and shoals, and fish will take walking plugs including Spooks and Sammies as well as flukes fished just under the surface.  Some good fish are also caught on buzzbaits at this time of year.  Right now the topwater bite won’t last as long as it did a few weeks ago, but it won’t die an hour or so after daylight like it will later in the summer.

During the day fish will move out to the ends of the points where they were feeding first thing in 15-30 feet of water, and brush will concentrate fish.  There are already some fish starting to get into a deeper pattern in 30 plus feet of water, and they are moving towards the humps where they will spend the summer.  Some are already there.  Soft plastics presented on shakey heads, drop shot rigs, etc. will all catch fish.
