The Carolina Angler Captain Chris Nichols (704-860-7951) isn't joking when he says the next few months are the best time of the year to catch big crappie on Lake Wylie, and the results from a recent trip show this. They were spider-rigging minnows 25 feet down in deeper creeks in the lower third of the lake and managed at least ten fish between 1.5 and 2 pounds. And every fish they caught was over a pound! Enjoy the photos - Captain Chris, a couple of his younger clients, the proof it's not the same fish being photoed over and over, and then the best part - Saturday lunch! With big crappie you can cook them like whole flounder and they are apparently hard to beat...
Enjoy the photos and thanks for the information, Captain Chris!
