The Lake Wylie blue catfish patterns are changing, and the bite is getting good. The bigger catfish are staying close to the huge schools of threadfin shad and white perch that are starting to bunch up in their early winter patterns, and they are beginning to gorge. Our two Wylie catfish guides are pursuing them different ways, and Captain Rodger Taylor with Catfish ON! Guide Service (803-517-7828) is anchoring cut bait on depth changes near the channel. Meanwhile,The Carolina Angler Captain Chris Nichols (704-860-7951) is drifting main lake flats and channel ledges with cut white perch. Clearly, both methods are working.
