It's that time of year when Captain Rob Bennett with Lowcountry Inshore Charters (843-367-3777) enjoys targeting American Shad making their annual spawning run, and there are various spots below the Santee Cooper lakes where you can fish for them. (The Charleston report gives more details each week). With the close-by landing closed Captain Rob had to make a long run to get to his favorite spot, but they managed 50 shad in an hour and a half. They basically caught one on each cast. It's a unique fishery that only lasts for a few weeks, but we always love seeing pictures like these. Also cool is that you can fish by boat or from shore at certain spots.
Thanks for sharing, Captain!
