While it wasn’t quite enough for the win in the Holy City Tarpon Tournament out of Charleston this weekend, Captain Addison Rupert (843-557-3476) with Lowcountry Outdoor Adventures caught this impressive fish on a live menhaden off the beach to the north of Charleston this weekend. Overall the fishing was much tougher than last year when they had four tarpon over the two-day event, or 2023 when they had an incredible nine tarpon – and this weekend they only had one shot at a fish each day. Captain Addison thinks that was mostly due to the tournament being held earlier this year, as the fishing for silver kings in South Carolina is almost always better in August and September. No one caught fish both days, but two boats managed two fish on the second day for first and second place (tie breaker to the earliest fish caught). Addison finished in fourth. Fishing should get better as more tarpon arrive, but they did catch a bunch of sharks and bull drum so there is plenty of action!
