While the author loves fishing and talking to great fishermen, by no means is he himself a great angler. But last week with the cooler weather the heavens aligned during our end of summer trip to Fripp Island, and on the first day I managed two keeper flounder, two slot redfish, and a bonus trout. All were caught in Fripp Inlet on the rising tide with mud minnows around oyster shells, and there's no question in my mind that air temperatures in the 70s got the fish chomping. While that was the high point of the trip, all week the fish bit better than they usually do for me in August and I managed to feed the family more fresh fish than usual. Sometimes being lucky is better than being good!
