Thanks to Ron Davis, inventor of The Chatterbait, for this inshore report.
Sheepshead: Very good. The sheepshead bite is very good around docks at low tide in 5-15 feet of water. Bits of clams, oysters, and mussels are the top baits.
Spottail Bass: Good. The redfish bite has picked up on the flats. Mud minnows are definitely the bait of choice fished on small jigheads or under floats. Creek fishing is still relatively slow.
Trout: Just starting. Trout are just beginning to show in the creeks. They have been more prevalent in the back one-third of the major creeks, and DOA Shrimp and curly-tail grubs are working on ¼ – 1/8 ounce jigheads.
Whiting fishing is good off the beaches around the sand bars.
A Cobia tournament out of Edisto Marina is scheduled for May 16.
Offshore: No new report from Edisto Marina.
