Inshore: Perry’s Bait and Tackle (843-651-2895) in Murrells Inlet reports that lots of flounder have been caught off the Pawley’s Island bridges, and flounder also seem to have made their way about half-way into Murrells Inlet. Some random speckled trout have been caught around Pawley’s Island and in the Inlet, and spottail have been biting pretty well in the creeks. Small finger mullet and menhaden are everywhere but they are generally not yet bait size, although in a few weeks they should be big enough.
Surf and pier: Spanish mackerel and bluefish are being caught off the beaches as well as a few pompano, and black drum have been caught inshore off the Veteran’s Pier as well as around the ocean piers. Weakfish have been caught on the ledges at Surfside beach as well as at the 3-Mile reef, but kings and cobia have not showed up off the piers yet. There have been some tripletail caught off the Garden City Pier and Surfside.
Nearshore: At the 3-Mile Reef and Bilkie Bear cobia and king mackerel have been caught, and Perry’s has live eels for cobia fishermen. They also supply live pinfish for grouper fishermen.
Offshore: Georgetown Landing Marina (843-546-1776) reports that offshore fishing is very good. Lots of dolphin, wahoo and even marlin have been caught recently.
