Lake Jocassee Spring 2015 Fishing Report (Updated June 5)

  • by Jay

Lake Jocassee water levels are at 98.9% of full pool.

Trout: Fair. Jocassee Outdoor Center reports that trout fishing has been off a little bit, and anglers are not quite sure why the fish are not biting more reliably. Fish are still being caught, but right now a very good day for a few people fishing on a boat would be 3 or 4 fish. Overall the best action is coming trolling minnows and spoons in 25-40 feet of water. First thing anglers are fishing the intakes, and there is also a decent amount of fishing activity up the rivers. Less people are targeting the main lake.

Bass: Fair. Jocassee Outdoor Center (864-944-9016) reports that, like the trout fishing, bass fishing has been inexplicably off for the last few weeks. A few smallmouth are being caught on soft plastics fished around rocky points, but overall the fishing has been very hit-or-miss. There is also some topwater activity first thing in the morning.

DHEC Fish Advisory – Only one meal per week of largemouth or spotted bass.
