The South Carolina Outdoor Press Association (SCOPE) held its annual meeting in Greenwood last week, and several members sampled the outstanding fishing at Lake Greenwood firsthand. And the opportunity to fish with two outstanding guides made the trip highly successful for every member of the media who fished.
Captain Roland Addy with Carolina Crappie Guide Service (864-980-3672) and Captain Daniel Skipper (864-430-0488; Three Eyes Deep Guide Service) were awesome guides, and both proved that the late-summer slumber of fishing success has ended at Lake Greenwood.
Both Captains found plenty of fish willing to bite, along with large specimens of both species. Our target species were crappie with Captain Roland and stripers with Captain Daniel; we also caught black bass, catfish, and bream.
Fishing trends are upswinging in South Carolina right now, both in freshwater and along the coast. But getting to sample the fishing firsthand was great and made reporting fun and easy.
Read the Lake Greenwood report on Anglers Headquarters for details on how they made their catches, and call these guides to book a trip and get your hands on some big ol' fish.
Thanks to the town of Greenwood (discovergreenwood.com if you plan a trip) for hosting our group, and to Captains Roland Addy and Daniel Skipper. Go fishing now!
