Morning surface water temperatures are in the mid-80s around Beaufort. There are tons of bait present from shrimp to mullet of all size to menhaden in the Broad River.

The abundance of bait in the area means that the redfish are very well fed, and perhaps as a result Captain Tuck Scott with Bay Street Outfitters (843-524-5250) reports

July 9

Inshore surface water temperatures are in the mid-80s around Charleston.

Inshore fishing has been a little slow around Charleston, but Redfin Charters (843-277-5255) reports

Lake Monticello surface water temperatures are in the mid-80s, warmer on the lower end near the power plant, and the lake is still clear. Water levels fluctuate daily.

Unfortunately the deep bass fishing has gotten tougher on Lake Monticello, which tournament angler Andy Wicker of Pomaria reports

July 9

Lake Russell water levels are still very high at right around full (full pool is 475.00) and the lake remains clear except in the very backs.  Morning surface water temperatures are around 85-86 degrees.

It’s been a pretty good bite on Lake Russell for the last week, andGuide Jerry Kotal (706-988-0860) reports

July 9

Lake Wylie is at 96.5% of full pool. Morning surface water temperatures are in the low to mid-80s.

The most exciting development in the last few days on Lake Wylie has been the mayfly hatch, and as a result of the mayfly hatch the bream fishing

July 9

Santee Cooper water levels are at 75.30 in Lake Marion (full pool is 76.8) and 75.22 in Lake Moultrie (full pool is 75.5). Water temperatures are in the mid-80s.

The catfish bite seems to have picked up again this week on Santee, and Captain Stevie English (843-709-8138) reports

July 8

Lake Wateree is at 96.8% of full pool and before the rain of the last 24 hours the lake was fairly clear from one end to another . Morning surface water temperatures are around 85 degrees.

While tournament angler Dearal Rodgers of Camden won’t say that numbers of bass couldn’t be found

July 8

Lake Hartwell water levels are still very high at 660.42 (full pool is 660.00) and the lake remains very clear. Morning surface water temperatures are about 84 degrees.

June used to be a really good month for bass on Lake Hartwell, and with conditions running a little behind this year Guide Brad Fowler reports

July 8

Morning surface water temperatures are in the low to mid-80s inshore around Hilton Head.

When you are chasing tarpon nothing is ever certain, and Captain Kai Williams (843-816-7475) reports

July 8

Lake Murray water levels are at 357.65 (full pool is 360.00) and the water has normal summertime color. Morning surface water temperatures are in the low to mid-80s depending on section of the lake.

It wouldn’t make sense to lead off with anything else but striped bass in a week and on a day when Captain Brad Taylor (803-331-1354) rates

July 8

Lake Keowee is at 98.5% of full pool and clarity is normal. Water temperatures are now in the mid-80s over most of the lake, with the exception of the Jocassee dam where water temperatures are still in the upper 70s.

June 25

Lake Monticello surface water temperatures are in the mid-80s, warmer on the lower end near the power plant, and the lake is still clear. Water levels fluctuate daily.

The latest CATT tournament on Lake Monticello this past Saturday was won with a respectable 16 ½ pounds of bass, but with only 5 teams fishing it’s hard to get a really good idea of just how strong the bite is right now from those standings.

June 25

Lake Jocassee is up to 97.6% of full pool and morning surface water temperatures have dipped back to a mild 76 degrees.

In last night’s bass fishing tournament on Jocassee tournament angler Joe Anders of Easley and his partner Greg Glouse won
